    New production blank firing StG44

I posted this in the Living history thread but I guess it is of interest here as well. Röhm RG, a well known German manufacturer of starterpistols, are releasing a 9mm P.A.K blank firing StG44 during 2009 (first half I've been told). Here's a link to a promotional PDF:

I wonder if Röhm make the receivers and sub assemblies themselves or have SSD (the 7.92K semis) and/or WTW (the cal.22 semis) make them? Interesting nevertheless, it seems the whole world has gone StG44 daft First the Shoei replicas, then the live guns from SSD and WTW ... I'd love to see a 0 Series StG45 replica, semi, blank firer ... any takers?

I don't think the live semi-auto MP-44c has made it to the U.S. yet and may not due to trouble with the law. Thanks for the post.

Will this blank firing MP44 be available in the US? I wonder about the price add what is better, the blank firing full auto or the new semi auto,

Neither is forsale in the US just yet... I am on the semi auto list one of the first 10... As for the price you need to weigh the options.. The blanks only is 1000 Euro MSRP and the semi is rather $4,000 or $5000 depending on when it was ordered. Both are going to be expensive to feed. The 9mm PAK blanks are $25/50 and the 8mm kurz is about $50/100 live and $40/100 for blanks

I am not familiar with 9mm PAK, but they are about $22 for 50 rounds. Of course, I can't imagine I would fire it more than one magazine.

I remember seeing ads in Shotgun News that the semi version would be available back in March 08 or something like that for $3,695 or there abouts, then $3,995, then upwards from Interordnance Inc. Then they quit running ads. I heard that the BATFE had stopped them from coming in.
I am wondering with the prices they could get for them, the guns, the mags, the blanks, etc, why are they not being made here in the U.S. since they cannot be imported. I think guns manufactured here would still be legal, correct?

US companies no longer take risks. The slowness of the major companies to get into the 'cowboy action shooting' sports is what made the Italian firearms firms the giants of the hobby.

Making nostalgic firearms would require massive interest before a US company would produce anything.

I understand what you are saying Bob. I have handled some of those Italian replicas of the Colt Peacemaker and I have to say that the quality seemed very good. It seemed like the price was about 1/3rd what a current U.S. made Colt was.
I wonder how many pre-ordered MP-44s it would take to motivate a U.S. company to tool up for production? 1000 maybe? I think they could sell that many especially if the price was under $4,000. Then the mags which they could get $100 each for, every reenactor would want a total of 7, one for the gun and 6 to fill the pouches. The blanks would be another sale item, I am sure that they would sell well at $25/100.
I don't know what it would cost per item to manufacture today but the return seems like it would be very good.
