nice ppk with a holster question

Picked up this PPK today at our local gunshow. I am the only military guy there so I get first shot at them all. Serial # 264602k, eagle / N proofs so I know it is a post 1940. I am guessing a late 41-42 time period? About a 95% + finish (photos are a little bright) with the usual high point muzzle wear. I did have a crack in the grip at the screw hole but it does not go all the way through.

It has a realy nice holster with a D.R.G.M. mark and what looks like to a AKAH stamped under the maker mark. It also has the shoulder strap with it. Very supple leather with no cracks or tares.

I know they did not make regulation shoulder holsters for the P.38 or P.o8 but did they have regulation shoulder holsters for these ppk pistols?

What kind of value would you put on this holster? I have never even seen one before none the less seen them for sale. I generaly do not keep leather goods but I am going to make an exception on this one.

Thanks for your help frank v.

Info on the holster was found on the P.38 forum. It was a regulation TR holster used by the Reichsbank or Reichs Finance Ministry. They were also sold commercialy during the same period. frank v.

would these shoulder boards go with this pistol?

Frank, your holster was a commercial model designated "Reichsbank" in Akah advertisements of the period. The holster illustrated in official Reichsbank manuals that have accompanied complete boxed sets is a different configuration, appearing similar only in the button flap feature at the bottom. A few of those issued Reichsbank holsters are known to have accompanied complete rigs. The Akah "Reichsbank" shoulder holster design was continued in production by Akah into the post-war period and is pictured in its post-war catalog.

The shoulder board you picture is for the III Reich Zoll (Customs) "Reichs Finanz Verwaltung", not the Reichsbank. Reichsbank employees (with the exception perhaps of armed guards) did not wear uniforms.
