    Any Ideas on this holster?

[FONT=Arial Black]Hi, this is my first attempt at posting a message. I picked up a holster and I have no idea what it is for. I tried my Sauer 38 (H) almost fit, but no fit. My French Unique 17, no fit. My Browning 1922, no fit. Japanese 94, no fit. Beretta 1935, no fit. CZ 27, no fit. CZ DUO, no fit, too small. The holster is a bit larger than a PPK holster, but the barrel is longer. My Walther PP almost fits, the barrel is about the right length, but no fit. My HSC fits the best, but the clip is too long in the clip pouch and the little pull does not pull the pistol up. The body of the holster is about 6 1/2 inch long by 5 1/4 inch wide, with a single loop on the back, about 2 1/4 inches wide. The clip pouch is about 3 1/2 inches long by 1 1/4 inch wide, with a noticable angle to the clip pouch. There are no manufacture marks anywhere. I had my friend look in his holster book and he had no idea what it was. I took it around to the Washington State Arms show last week and no one had any idea. I have a picture of the holster on my web page at

    Thanks,
    Douglas

Try Steyr 1909. The magazine pouch angle seems to be proper.

Posted a Photo of the Holster

Here is a photo of the holster, showing the angle to the clip pouch and the little leather pull.

            Hi,
I have not been able to find anyone with a Steyr 1909 to try it, to see if it fits in the holster.
Nope, I have not heard from any other members about this holster. Someone out there must have one like this, and knows exactly what it was made for.

I am sure the holster was made for Steyr. No another pistol with the same magazine angle has lenght about 7". Currently the lenght of Steyr is 163 mm. I am not sure someone out there must have one like this. Maybe it is custom made piece because the pistol is almost covered in holster. It is not manner of common European service holsters.

                Thanks Jan !!!

Thanks Jan for your replies on this holster. The next time I go to a big show, I will take the holster and try to find someone with a Steyr 1909, to see if it fits. At least you have given me a place to start.
By the way, I visited Prague in 1995 and had a very good time. I drank a beer at the "Jeep Bar" in Prague and donated an American Flag to them that had flown in Washington DC, USA. When I got home, I received a package from Prague, a poster of the military vehicle assocation with many of the czech members signatures.
I sure did enjoy my visit over there.
                Over and out,

                  Very interesting holster.
As Jan stated a Styer 1909 will probably fit into this. However, it will be very loose, and I don't beleive that this holster was made for a 1909. I've never seen a German manufactured one with a magazine pouch on it? It is too small for the Styer 1912. Even the 1912 holster usually have the magazine pouch on the side, and not on the front as this one is. It could possibly be for a Dreyse 1907, since the Germans did use these, and the dimensions are correct.

However, the lift strap leads me to believe that this is a Sauer 38(H) holster. The dimensions are just a bit too small for a Sauer, but perhaps the leather has tightened up a bit. I have seen several Sauer 38 hardshell holsters that are very simular to this one, and have a lift strap that is almost identical to a luger holster. The dimensions of these are usually about 7.3 inches (185mm) high, and 5.75 inches (146mm) wide.

Check your mesurements again, and if they are even close to these, then this is definately a Sauer 38 holster! It will probably be a tight fit, so you will want to loosen the leather up with some good leather oil. I had to do the same thing when I purchased some of those minty unissued P38 holsters. They were so tight, that I couldn't get the P38 to fit inside and close the strap! I loosened it up with oil, and forced the P38 inside, and then closed the strap. I then left the P38 inside the holster and oiled it every two days! (yes it soaked up the oil every two days!). Now the P38 fits like a glove inside this holster!

PS- also another pistol that I just though of that would probably fit this holster is the Sauer 30 Behoerden! Give that a try! I'm sure that would fit!
