help me with GEW43..

Hi everybody.
I'm Marco and writing from Italy; I'm a model maker of 1/6 scale figures and love to reproduce soldiers of several eras.
I have a question, gentlemen, for a model of a luftwaffe feld div. troop:
did they ever used the gew 43 rifle?
if yes, in which theatre of war?

Good question Marco, I know for certain that Luftwaffe Fielddivisions used the G43 during the Battle of the Bulge, the Ardennes Offensive in winter 1944/45.
I discovered a G43 rifle together with 2 LW-helmets (1 with decal!) in a foxhole near Tarchamps, Luxembourg.
Generally I think LW-Felddiv. used the G43 over the whole ETO since its introduction.

So you can add the G43 to your model figurines with "good conscience" !

They used them not only in "The Battle of the Bulge", but also in Normandie and in Russia.

So, if I dress him with fliegerbluse and trousers feldblue, leggings, boots, infantry equipment and M35 stahlelm...do you think that he could been set in Normandie?

The G43 / K43 was issued to all branches of the Wehrmacht. LW Felddivisionen units were among these troops. Your figure would be accurate in case you decided to portrait your soldier with a G43.

There is footage of Fallschirmjager troops supposedly taken during the Battle of the Bulge......I would guess it could be Italy as well....One is lying on the ground with a G/K43 slung across his back.....So, to answer your question.....Yes, they did.....Bodes
