1917 DWM Luger with a bent frame

    Hi,

I have a luger with a small dent in the frame. However, this dent has virtually locked the receiver in place. The receiver will not budge a hair. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

    Thanks,
    Eddie

The rails on the toggle extension slide in corresponding channels milled in the frame. Your small dent impacts the extension and all corresponding parts. Is the toggle movable at all? I would think it would a bit. Can you get any pins out to salvage toggle parts. Try and remove the main spring and associated parts as well as the safety and mag retaining piece.

About all I can suggest is brute force with a brass hammer against the front of the extension where you removed the barrel. If you get it apart, only a dremel tool or a milling machine might remove the impeding dent in the rail channel. Another thought. You might heat the dented metal to shrink the dent and make it easier to hammer off. I think the frame will be trashed.

You might post this over there. There are some pretty knowledgeable guys there with lots of skills.
