It would be interesting to know if it had been re-proofed by the British. The proofs would be on the barrel underside, toggle links and right side receiver...and I think right side frame ear.

A lot of British capture firearms were coated with the black enamel protective finish. I can only speculate that these firearms were for a while in British military inventory...maybe for training, Home Defense or use on missions where enemey arms were desired to be carried.

While many collectors wince at the statement of "Blackwidow used by the SS" it seems to me to be beyond argument that the SS received a very high proportion of byf 41/42 Lugers were in fact alloted to the SS....black and wood fitted grips.

            Hi Ben.....
This one does not look too good.......

There are two very nice examples on the estand that look 100 times better than this.....

Some 'black widow' (stupid name) Lugers may have been issued to the W/SS but for that to have any bearing there needs to be proof and as far as i know there isn't any.....

            Steve.

Better pictures are needed, but the second photo looks kind of weird, what is wrong with the side of it?

I have never heard that the byf41 Lugers were issued mostly to SS troops, of course some probably were, but so were P38s...

Speaking of P.38's, here is a Walther 1941
