    Birds of a Feather…

… tend to be photographed together, so why not rifles and tunics? With an early EM sidecap included for effect, here are 13 pictures of my recently acquired late war K98 and a late war army NCO tunic. (a favorite of mine) Hope you enjoy them.

BTW, the rifle was mailed to me early last month. It was the Mauser K98 discussed here:

The tunic itself is a nice worn M43 that remains in great condition. The IAB pic was included simply to fill a gap in the background.

Markings. From the site linked below, the code “ce” means it was produced by the firm of: J.P. Sauer und Sohn, Waffenfabrik, Suhl, Thuringia

Later that night I thought, “what’s a gun without ammo?” so the following weekend I took some more pictures and included some period ammunition.

This is a box of live rounds I bought at a show, the handwritten card from the dealer identifies them as German WWII 7.92mm S.M.K. Armour piercing Tracer. (no stripper clips) While they are all of the same type they are of mixed dates of manufacture, marked either 1942 or 1943 and vary in condition. Some have been knocked around a bit like this one, others are in much better shape. Most likely they are not original to the box.

And some views of the receiver. Again I used natural light from the outdoors coming through a window but it was an overcast day so they are somewhat on the gray side. The 13th (and last) picture was taken using the flash. You can see the wearing of the black finish to good effect.

I did. Nice pics! I especially love the tunic, but it all looks great.
