    Ithaca .45 Pistol Question

Hi, I picked up a .45 with serial number 1923431. When I checked one of my references it stated the pistol was manufactured by Remington Rand, but it has a Ithaca slide. Was this common to have a slide replaced from a different manufacturer during the war, or would I suspect it is a postwar replacement? The pistol looks evenly worn throughout and does not appear to have been retro fitted at all. Thanks very much.

Of course the slide and frame could have been switched at any time but they were often switched between pistols and manufacturers during US arsenal re-builds. A lot of these were rebuilt both during and after WWII.
