Very nice hi-Power. I would suggest that the holster is a post war piece of German manufacture for a G.I.

Thanks guys.
Very nice holster and Hi-power, Denny.
GWA: I'm not sure which holster your comment was directed towards
or if you are suggesting both are post-war manufactured.
First of all, I would like to know what facts you base your comments on
or is it merely "whim" or "your feeling".
I purchased mine from a dealer who researches his items and does not
deal in reproduction or fake items. Denny says his came from a Vet.
I'm taken aback by your comment, and find it rather disheartning, actually.
I joined this forum to learn, so teach me, if you have facts to back up
your comments.
To the other members, please weigh in on your thought about these
holsters. Is there a book that show German WWII (shoulder) holsters ??
I have a long-time collector friend that has lots of them, but I would
like to learn more about WWII German holsters...
Bueller ??? Anybody ???

Capthoot, my opinion is formed from experiance of having seen an awful lot of German WWI, Weimar and Dritte Reich holsters. I do not suggest that the holsters are fake or intended to cheat or deceive but simply not German military issue. Quick observations; all military acquired German holsters are maker marked and dated; German army acquired holsters for captured weapons such as the HP or CZ's are also marked; hardware on the holsters pictured is common hardware used on all sorts of German equipment and probably available to post May 1945 leather shops; many G.I.s had shoulder holsters made for their trophies before coming home.

German issued shoulder holsters??? "and the beat goes on".
Whenever a shoulder holster shows up, it ends up being a long discussion as to originality; post-war; etc.
George, Captainhoot; we have all had this discussion before and will probably never reach a definative conclusion on this subject. In my humble opinion, they are part of the history, whether factory or hand made.
Captainhoot - I would buy your holster in a heartbeat.
George - I would do the same with your "mouse gun".
Do a search in the forum on "shoulder holsters"
Now let's discuss chrome plated Lugers.
