I know.....this is probably an easy one but I'm not a gun guy and to be honest I've seen some that look like it, but not quite like it.

I should point out the large oval stamp on the flap appears to be three letters, the first two are "US" with the third impossible to read (N?). I can't see any other markings either on the back or inside the flap. The flap is secured by a single brass snap and the belt strap on the back is fixed with three brass rivets.
