    Sniper Specs

    Hi

It was suggested out of interest from Darrel I place these in here being that I have no knoweldge on firearms.

These specs came from an authors collection whom specialized in German snipers, I looked through one lens and it created a birds eye view with some sort of rnge graphics,,,also pictured in the envelope are some points that appear to be markers for a snipers scope.

Has anyone seen anything like these specs?

These type of glasses have been around since around the mid-1800s and are generally known as shooter's glasses. The British Goverment and perhaps others conducted extensive research starting in the 1850s that focused (excuse the pun) the effects of directed light, a shooters eye and a rifle's sights...both iron variations and scopes.

Probably more information than you want, but these type of glasses have been used by competitive target shooters for a century and a half to some degree. They very well may have been used by some German snipers during WWII but I know nothing about any of these being offical issue...and I think that I would have if they were.

Phil, Thank You, I really enjoyed the amount of info and it wasnt over done, they are from a large collection that centers on snipers, mostly German but Iam sure other Nations items are in there also.
