Hi guys, I see these small boxes from time to time, even have seen one with a tiny oil bottle and some rags inside. Can you tell me, is this for civil pistols only? Did such boxes go with military issue pistols, too? Thanks!

I would say since this box has the Walther banner marking on it they were made for commercial sales and not military. Military items from WW II have a letter code marking and waffen amt markings.

The little tin box went in the commercial Walther box along with pistol, cleaning rod and second magazine.Comment

These were distributed with wartime PP / PPK pistol. The were placed inside the factory box .

The metal cleanig kit box came with all boxed PP/PPKs. The second magazine did not unless the green tag with serial number also had an "M" stamped on it. If it was in the box without the "M", it was purchased separately by the original or a subsequent owner.Comment
