    Us Navy Colt 1895

    Can anyone help me to value this US Navy colt 1895,its not in the best condition,the grips has some damage.

      Please understand it's hard to evaluate a firearm from pictures. I'm going to have to make an assumption here that the finish is original but turning color with age. The gun is in operable condition and all complete. These are commercial Colt hard rubber grips as the original would be smooth walnut. With that in mind I'd put a value on it in the $300 - $400 range in its apparent condition. Finding original grips for it will be a big challenge as they are very scarce. These guns are not highly collectible and IMO undervalued but because it's a Navy that does make it more desirable.
      From a safety point of view these revolvers are chambered for the 38 Long Colt and NOT the 38 spl which will however chamber in the gun. Do not attempt to fire this gun with 38 spl ammo and if the cylinder doesn't lock up tight don't fire it at all until its gone over by a gunsmith.
