P-38 Grips

Is it unusual to find pre-45 P-38 grips with no markings on the inside? How can one tell if the grips are bakelight?

All WW2 wartime P.38 grips were marked on the inside in some manner except the late war shiney black plastic Mauser grips. There are many ways to authenticate grips including: the markings on the inside, the number of broken lines around the screw hole, the weight, texture, color, and feel of the grips. And also looking at the escutheons (inserts).

Pictures are a good way. Also if they are plastic then they respond to heat.
