    MP40 marking / ZUU / opinions wanted!

    Dear forum people aka specialists

    My friend has the MP40 and i saw it again yesterday and it is a MP40 660 from 1940 matching number

    Nevertheless we see an marking on the gun and we can not identify what it is. It is very close to the WaA623 stamps and as we can read it:

    "ZUU"

    Any forum people has any clue what it is? We think it is been stamped in the same time, but we can be wrong.

    Please let us know

    it is not "zuu" but "bnz" upside down, but the "b" is worst marking

    number code of steyr: 660
    lettre code of steyr: bnz
    waffenhamt of steyr WaA623
    your machine is OK, it is a first model!

      have u ever seen this mark more on MP40's? i have never seen it and we tried to figure out, but you think this is maybe one of the first 660 / BNZ?

          That bnz marking in that very place was common for 660 marked mp's made in 1940
          Please show pictures of the whole mp
