    Colt Super 38 with 22 conversion kit!

    Hi All,

    I'm posting this for my buddy Doug. He just picked up this interesting piece. Its a Colt 38 super 1911. It also came with a 22 conversion kit.

    The serial number range is 61000. I tried to find out the date from the serial number but could not find it in any books.

    If you guys could give him any info he would appreciate it.

      Hi Bill,
      Chuck Clawson's book places your friend's pistol as 1948 manufacture.
      Pity it's in such rough shape finish-wise. That's an expensive gun when in excellent condition.

        The condition of the pistol is much better than it looks in the pictures. The .22 conversion kit is almost pristine, ruch blue and original. I heard this is the pistol that all of the target shooters hunt for, and convert them to special fittings for match shooting. It is probably in about 75% condition. Anyone have any idea what it would bring if sold? Doug

          Oh, by the way, it came with 3 .38 super clips, mint, and the one .22 clip for the conversion. The two .38 super clips came in a canvas WWI clip holder with the Mills marking, also in perfect condition. D
