    Machine gun sight

    I did a big trade this weekend and the guy had aGerman machine gun sight in a box. No waffenampts but marked Zeiss and Eleitz? and Wetzler??and the sight and box are numbered.

    he wants $450 for it -- Is this about right? Too high?

    Now that really depends on what you have been offered! If it was a Swedish army sight (made by the Germans in 1941), I would say it was expensive! If it was a MGz34 it would be a steal You need to offer up a whole lot mor info to get a valid help!

      This came with a bunch of German stuff including the SS helmet I have on the forum. So far only German military stuff has come out of this grouping. Unfortunatly i'm asking him questions on the phone and I don't know enough to ask the right questions.

        Well, do a quick search on the forum for "MGz34" and you will find plenty of pictures to help id' it. There are for example Swedish sight in circulation, so be aware!

            I talked to the guy some more (I could post some pictures but I don't think it's neccessary) . The sight is a ZF12 MG08 sight with leather pouch (but missing the top ) I guess that makes it pretty common I'll bet.
            $450 is out of line isn't it? I could trade for it but I would just want to trade or sell it around here.

              I think $450 is too much, particularly if the carry case is damaged. Also, a big factor is the condition of the sight - its optics, whether it has original paint on the exerior, whether it has a sunshade in the box, whether it has the leather eye cup, etc.

              You should also remember that there are not all that many guys here in the U.S. that have a need for a Zf 12 scope so, unless someone just happens to like the scope by itself, you need to find someone who owns an MG08 and needs a scope.

              I think $450 would probably be about retail price, if everything is in nice shape and complete.

                I still "MIGHT" trade for it but I realize it is high. Optics are clear. I didn't try to turn anything. Nothing in the box. Here are some pictures.
