R/C dot 1944 vintage MG34

ok here she is, One that Uncle Joe had "put away for a rainy day" its mismatched but still one of my favourites I would have loved an early BSW or similar but this one still has a tale to tell. And its a live one
The belt drums are WWII manufacture with a postwar Yugo repaint

It really depends from one country to another. Here the Mauser 98 and the Gewehr 41 is free. All the rest needs to be deact. Certain rifles of other countries are also free (I have a list of the free ones).

Here in NZ we can own live full auto on a collectors licence provided you meet security requirements and are a genuine collector,one condition of the licence is that we do not use the guns on our "c" class endorsement and abuse of this can result in loss of licence and collection.
So its not like we can go out and rattle away as the mood takes us but still nice to have them in working order.
They have also become very hard to find and are getting expensive! gone are the days when importation was a breeze and guns where plentifull !

I mean, can you own live MP40, STG44, Flaks,etc...?

hi Ace, Pretty much anything, I have a friend with a Bofors 40mm gun and MP40 is one that I have along with MP44 and all live. The only restriction being having a licence and meeting security requirements. Interestingly enough with our law the MG34 you can buy deactivated and have with no restrictions in Europe or the UK would come under the same catagory in NZ as a live gun and would have to be kept securley by an endorcesd licence holder.
Hand guns also come under collectors licence here ( C class)or a B class licence for those that want to shoot them then you must belong to a club shoot at a certified range/Club and attand a minium of 12 organised events per year and own a limited number of guns also with better than normal security requiremants.
Sporting rifles and shot guns are all under one normal licence and pose little bother.
So we are not the wild west all running around packing guns and not many people here collect guns and own machine guns but if you are prepared to follow the procedures it is possiable for those with the right drive and ambition to do so
I think we are lucky in a lot of ways that NZ has been traditionally a country where hunting ,shooting and fishing was an accepted and common passtime and is still seen as such by a good percentage of the population and those of us that collect guns tend to be discrete about it just to be on the safe side.

Remarkable.........looks like you are one of the few societies to have retained your sanity......switzerland apparently being the other. Very advanced collector in uk , collection from hell and one of the last to be permitted finally got the good news from the government that his licence would not be renewed.He had the financial wherwithal to leg it and moved lock stock and the preverbial barrel to switzerland. Wher he was welcomed with open arms by all accounts.
Feel free to post some more pics of your gear if you are willing, always nice to see decent kit .

been reading this thread with interest. some nice 34,s there. my one is a relic one from the ardenne. bsw 38. battle damaged and abandoned.the jacket has shrapnel damage and bullet damage. would love to post some pics but it says i am not allowed to post attachments. any idea why ?
