Battle damaged MG optic

Here is a battle damaged mg optic. It was ground dug from the former Stalingrad area. I just recieved it from a digger in Volgagrad.

Battle damaged optic

I agree nice piece, though I don't see any bttle damage. Lots of corrosion though!

Top end of the scope is sheared away, would have had the objective lens.

If the gunner actually was using it at the time the result would have been very ugly.

Based on the angle of the picture I would hesitate to assert that. The metal is thinner up on top and what is visible just looks like simple corrosion. Of course a more direct photo of the damage could very well change all of that.
