Here's a pic. of the two Lugers together. Top is the questionable one and bottom an unscrewed with example. See any differences?
Notice the lack of "crispness" in the edges the top example?

The problem with Luger's is that you need to handle a ton of them. The books are great and very informative but they should never take away from the eye's.

You need eye's, and not everyone has them. People just run for books, the same books on the shelf of the guy who made the gun. The market does not have sympathy for the collector if he makes a mistake, and the dealers or some dealers , are feeding on new collectors with books. And they will take the money all day long.

That gun was bad the moment the thread started, and no elongated description was needed. And if a long list of the issue's are needed by the buyer, he needs to go handle some Luger's. Or? he is in the wrong hobby and should be looking at something else. Because he is going to get screwed by an "expert".

That is the game.

In this case it's based upon 50 years of collecting in which I've handled and examined untold thousands of firearms including Lugers. Doing this from pictures has limitiations but most try to do their best.
After the personal abuse I've taken here I'll probably not do so in the future.

I usually won't call them at all as the pictures rarely tell the whole story, but the straw was like a baseball bat and then the finish. I pretty much stopped there. Why do I need anymore than that?. And a real Luger artist would have left the grip screw's alone. One less thing for the eye's to settle on. I thought that was an easy call.

Don't worry Jim!! I will call and abuse you in person in a little while.

ReBlue Luger

This Luger is very close to being worthless....why would anybody in their correct frame of mind ...redo a historic pistol.......... to make it look like you just bought it at WalMart is beyond me.

I have also received permission to disclose the asking price for this doctored Luger from the potential buyer who started this thread. The asking price is $2000. For those who have been in this hobby for a while we know if it's too good to be true somethings wrong. Selling a Luger that would be worth around $4000 for $2000 is certainly in this category.
