It is a model 1906 7.65mm commercial. One of many produced and exported to the US. Overall condition is poor to fair at best but it seems to have a broken grip safety spring. If you can find the spring it will cost as much as $100. If I were selling this pistol I would ask $1200 and keep my fingers crossed.

I would not pay more than $800, if that, but I'm a prick when it comes to buying. If you're in to military weapons this Luger has nothing for you. Best of luck.

Thanks for the photos - they provide useful information.

I'll have to go with GWA's comments on this one - it is seriously overpriced, given its poor to fair condition. Also, this is a commercial pistol that had nothing to do with the US military; the "American Eagle" on the chamber was simply a decoration to aid in marketing the pistol to consumers in the US.

Interesting barrel marking in the "Circle B" proof. This is a 7.62mm barrel left over from DWM's contract for Lugers sold to the Brazilian military. You see a good number of the left-over Brazilian contract barrels that were "recycled" and used to make up the '06 Commercial pistols in this serial number range.

Did the seller tell you that the chamber mark was for the US Army or was that your impression? Just wondering if the seller was trying to "explain" and justify his high price for this simple commerical Luger.

By posting your question on this forum it saved you making a bad purchase decision.

I agree with the others. The barrel is from a Brazilian Contract Luger and the serial number on it seems to be overstamped.
