MP44 in Spiper Configuration

I've read about the MP44 in Spiper Configuration, but have never 'seen' one.
Here is one to take a look at & form your own opinion

As far i can see,the gun is assambled from different parts. In war time the MP44 was tested for sniper role but was unfit to do the job,and in this combo never issued,to frontline troops. I think its a postwar assamble.

Scope rails are not that hard to get and original sniper MP44s are quite scarce so I'd say it MIGHT be a combo.

You can't also tell for sure that they were never issued to frontline troops. However, the best potential proof - pictures - are not known to exist

Im pretty sure in Sepp Allerberger's book Sniper on the Eastern front near the close of the war he see's a newly formed unit consisting completly of snipers 2 are armed with the MP44 as a sniper variant(p165).But we all understand how over time details get confused and missed.Brilliant book as well

Are you sure about the MP44s? Wasn't he refering to G43s?

I just finished the book. Allerberger mentions the Mp43/44 as a "sniper weapon" and details it pretty well. He also talks about the g43 and that he also used it one at least once during a very active situation.

I have an original foto of a Heer Soldat with an mp43/44 with a zf4 mounted on it. I also have a war time fot of a Brit capture mp43/44 with a Zielgerat 1229 mounted on it. Now that is awesome looking!!

$17K is pretty much market price for a transferable MP44 anyway, so if you bought it for that it'd be hard to go wrong.

But as for it being what the implication is, notice the "wiggle words"..........

"from what I can tell" and "is coming out of an estate so I have no idea of the history"

translation: "I want to say it is this, but you can't hold me responsible if it's not"
