      Steve,

International Military Antiques ("IMA") sold these a while back and may still have some (I know they have lots of parts and accessories). I can't recall the price, but $900 sounds high for this type of thing.

Check out IMA's website at "ima-usa.com"

Remember: unlike European deacts that have intact original receivers, what you have here has been butchered pretty badly with BATFE-mandated torch cutting of the receiver in 3 places w/ a torch tip that removes at least 1/4" metal per pass. As re-welded, the "receiver" is just an inert chunk of iron with a partial parts kit around it. I say a partial parts kit b/c, typically, not all the original parts are used in a dummy gun build b/c internals and some externals won't fit into the dummy "receiver".

In my experience, these parts kits built up on dummy receivers are just not a hot item among U.S. collectors; a real slow mover if you are trying to sell.

My gut feeling is that the seller is trying to get his full money back on an IMA purchase and, possibly, make a buck or two. Check the prices, but I think you will have a hard time moving this and at $900, there won't be much profit in it.

Please let us know how this turns out. Good luck

P.S.: I'm enjoying the heck out of my Japanese Type 99 LMG, thanks to the original magazine I got from you.
