    M1 Garand - Marlin barrel

    Hello to everyone,
I have an M1 Garand (Springfield, s.n. 10657xx) with a Marlin barrel. The barrel is marked 6535448-MARLIN on top side. Is possible to know the production period of the barrel? Is wwii or post-wwii?

    Thanks a lot

The receiver serial number puts it in 1942. Marlin did produce 40,000 barrels during WWII with a blue finish unfortunately for Marlin most were rejected by the government and none are believed to have been used during WWII on production rifles although some were used in post war rebuilds. Marlin next received a contract in 1952 to produce barrels, yours appears to be one of the early ones from this contract due to it being marked on top. In late 1952 the markings were moved to the right side where most other barrel markings are found.
