    Packet of Roth-Steyr 8mm ammo

    Enjoy this un-opened 1914 Dated packet of 8mm Roth-Steyr ammo on a stripper clip.. A very hard to locate packet of AMMO...BILL

                  Joe, I don't know but there are several in reference books with the same Made In Italy on them.. In the same color Ink as the Georg Roth Factory Lichtenworth, Austria is marked in..BILL

                    Hallo Bill

                    Lichtenwörth is in near my hometown, i have found a blank (exercise)
                    cartridge for the Steyr Roth years ago with my scope. A few Roths where
                    also found in this area. A gunsmith had a nice collection of Roths and
                    spareparts ... interesting was, that you cannot change the part form one Roth and use it for another Roth. Mostly the trigger parts are adopted to fit exactly, by hand.

                    Btw do your Steyr Roth have any unit stamps on the other grip. You know on the metal disk (hope thats correct in english)

                        Your RFV Roth Steyr is something else Bill. I have one that has an Austrian Gendarmerie Kommando marking on the disc: L.G.K.? Can't recall the Land right now. Will look for a photo.

                        I was thinking about that cartridge box. You don't suppose those were left in some Austrian arsenal in portion of the territory ceded to Italy after WWI. After they were declared surplus, they were exported to the US surplus demand and marked with country of origin as required?

                            .. Joe, That is a good thought.. I had given it similar thought, given as war booty at the end of WW1 to Italy and then sold as surplus ammo...BILL

                              Either way got it into Italian hands without them paying for it. And the marking would be required to ship into the US from point of origin. Obviously not Italian made. I can't think of another reason for the marking.
