Attic find, looks more like under the house find. Anyway, it breaks the heart to see such a fine weapon in this shape. None the less, hopefully you'll be able to keep it.

It was found in the attic during demolition of an old house and passed on to the Police. There was also one more magazine and about 250 rounds in clips.

I think no one will even dare to try to fire it ever again

I'd hang it on a tree, put a rope on the trigger and pull.
No seriously, I think this one will never fire again but it's a nice relic though

The house (now in ruin and being demolished) was built in 1956 so probably it has something to do with the anti communist partisans. House owner and his son have passed away so it will remain a mystery forever...

                  Attic finds

I can easily believe what could be found in attics, No 4T stuffed down a cavity
wall in arnhiem, not a good idea to be found with a sniper rifle.

A couple of EOD guys i know told me one of the more bizzare finds was rung in by the police.
Little old lady in gillingham in kent became ill and was taken into care, lived thier all of her life with her husband who had already passed away. When the house was being sorted the cops were called and then EOD. The attic was totally stuffed with crates of 20mm ammo. Batch numbers were all the same,
1943 production. Husband worked in the Navy dockyard during the war.......
He has already passed away so history will never know the story behind it all. All she knew was that her husband put boxes in the attic years ago and had not botherd with them scince. EOD were wondering why the roof had not caved in after all those years !!

Before you ask .......no sign of an oerlikan at all.

...that fought in the post office, or round the city hall...

I almost choked when I read your post. I'm sure those rounds were meant to be "given" to the police back in 1916. I bet you'll agree that its terrible for a piece of history like that to be swallowed up by the STATE, especially when they originate from an event that was a revolution against the state. the same goes for the sturmgewehr. I realize that in both cases the government is under different managment now, and that what those guys fought for has mostly been achieved, but still the principal remains. Connolly would have kept them

Based from the pics i would say this MP44 is worth a restoration when you
can get it. You will need a few springs and a lot of time but i am sure
it will look very nice for a display

Superb relic condition on that MP44! I would leave it as is but it should also clean up quite nicely, by the looks of it the pitting wouldn't be all that bad.

A good friends father is a retired police officer and has some stories to tell. We've had pretty regular nation wide weapon amnesties in Sweden, the last one was last year. What is usually handed in are rusted hunting rifles and the odd handgun. During the amnesty hand-in in the 80's (what year fails me) my friends father was taking his shift at the reception desk for amnesty weapons. Business had been slow when an old gentleman walks in with something long wrapped in an old blanket. At the counter he unwraps an ... MG34 with a loaded belt of ammo, out the door he goes only to return with two cans of belted MG ammo. The third time he comes back he puts down a crate of potato masher hand grenades with a P38 on top. The fourth and last time the old gent comes back in he has yet another box of hand grenades, he tips his hat and leaves ...

After a frozen moment my friends father locks the front door by remote and reaches for the intercom, slowly and clearly saying "- Ehh ...guys, drop the donuts ... I need EOD in here ... NOW!"

                              Pictures from last years amnesty:
