Finally...

After a long search I got my hands on a Arisaka Type 99 from Nagoya Arsenal Tokyo. I think it's from the 4th series. The 'mum' has sadly been erased. The bore is in excellent shape, it shines like a mirror after I cleaned it. Cleaning rod, monopod and AA-sight are not present. If anyone knows where to obtain them...I've seen repro's on Ebay.com but don't know if there are European sellers that might have these parts.
At a local gunshow I found a bayo from the Toyoda Jidoshoki Seisakusho (Toyoda Automatic Loom Works) under Nagoya supervision for a 'fair price' considering the European prices.

No the bolt isn't matched to the gun (if I can recall correctly . I just oiled the metal, removed all old grease and re-greased it again.
I've already fired 20 rounds with it and it's a very nice rifle to shoot with.
The only problem is the ammo: it's very hard to obtain 7,7mm ammo here.
Too bad I don't know the origin of this rifle, just that it comes from a lot of 10 or 20 that was being sold here once...

We can get newly manufactured Norma ammunition in the USA but it is very expensive. Most of us who shoot Arisaka rifles have reloading dies and presses handload the ammunition. It is a hobby in itself.

I wouldnt get a repro monopod for it, they usually scratch the wood up real bad. Just out of curiosity(I have a 4th series too), what is the serial number on it?

Also what is the bolt number?

The serialnumber is 32012 and the boltnumber is 623. Hope this helps you.

It is common for handloaders to form 7.7 cases from 30.06 cases. I think your S&B cases are reloadable.

I think it is a beautiful 4th series nagoya. 4th series rifles are cool, because the first 10,000 were made by a subcontractor(still looking for one of those rifles).

I wouldnt add on any of the parts, I would just leave it as is. AA wings maybe and a cleaning rod, but I would stay away from dust covers(stay far away from dust covers, they rub the finish off guns that arent matched to them) and monopods.

Careful with the 30-06 case conversions. I have seen 7.7 made out of them split at the neck and the base. There is a paper from the 70s on the dangers of that if I can find it. I also saved some split cases for reference if I can find them I'll get a pic. the Type 99 is a strong action but better safe than sorry.

I have converted 30.06 brass into 7.7 with no problems but quickly abandoned this process due to the availability of factory 7.7 brass. The reformed cases are just not as good in my opinion.

If it better and known to be safe that makes sense.

Original parts you need are often on EBAY.
No problems with adding them as they are not numbered.
Your rifle has a chrome plated barrel.
