Just picked up this carbine on Saturday at a local gun auction--I'm the one of course that paid too much but seems to be a fairly nice one. Have a question about the serial number being stamped on the stock also. A name had also been scratched in the stock. Wouldn't have a clue how to find out if it could have been the vet who did it. Barrel and receiver are both Inland from 1943. Comments welcome. Thanks for looking Tomt

#7 When I disassembled it the trigger assy. was marked A.I. as well as the bolt. The charging rod was an SG. The hammer appeared to be AM B. Bayonet lug JI and the sight appears to be HI. Any help on these stampings would be appreciated.Comment

Postwar rebuilds like yours often feature the "potbelly" stock that was actually for the M2 select fire carbine. Looks like a nice one to shoot and enjoy, and these have a value all their own and will increase over the years.WAF LIFE COACHComment

Hi Alan I really don't know if this could be a CMP carbine or not. I purchased it at a local gun auction this past Saturday. It has no signs of any import marks. I have never purchased from the CMP and don't know whether any marks are applied by them or not. Maybe someone else on the Forum could help address.this. I do know the CMP has recently received a large shipment of Garands from Greece and has had to purchased de-greasing equipment to prep these for sale as many were so heavily cosmolined.
