Werkschutz Walther PPK from Thiel Factory

This is a werkschutz PPK for the Thiel factory at Muhlhausen. Thiel made clockwork fuzes during the war. I found a Thiel fuze that actually still ticks when wound!!! Muhlhausen was cleared April 5th 1945 by the 6th armored of the 3rd army. 6 days later they cleared Buchenwald camp 60 miles to the east.

I'm trying to find a living vet of the 6th armored so I can interview them about the Fuze factory. anyone know how I can look them up and write them?

the brass time unit is shown here. a mechanical clock that counts down 30 to 60 seconds after the round is fired. the british actually copied this Thiel mechanism for their own use.

    location of the factory Muhlhausen.

Neat, neat pistol. Find a link on the computer to the 6th Armored Division Association. That's the best place to start.
