Looks like that was the bayonet design that they originally put on the 03 Springfield untill TR said no way!

The nice thing to me about trapdoors is you can still use them provided you have an example in good condition. I enjoy shooting my example on occasion.
This appears to be an excellent example pictured.

Really interesting to see the antecedent of the 03' Springfield rod-bayonet.
