I doubt it's the same - 1st pic: note the rounded and buldged place above the glass bubble, some kind of cover on the left side, and different shape of the "arm". On the 2nd pic it's clearly visible that the body is round - 2nd type has different shape.
And thanks in advance for the pic of the 1st type

Picture of first model German Grenade Launcher and site.. I do not know of one in any collection here in the US and have never seen one in a museum either Here or in Europe.. Some of the Grenades were found in Russia several years ago, but none ever materilized on the collector's market.. I would think the the launchers and sites were lost in Russia and were of a small production run.. There have been some repro. first model grenade launchers in the market place, several showed up at SOS 3 years ago but the attaching bayonet type knob and spring were never finished, I think they came out of the Czech Republic.. The originals attach to the bayonet lug just like a bayonet...BILLAttached Files

Thanks Ade.
Two more traces:
- I was told that this might be one of 2 or 3 versions of that well known German sight. Others are supposedly kept in Aberdeen Ordnance Museum. I didn't even know that other versions ever existed.
- could it possibly be a pre/WW1 'volley' sight? I know that's not the WW1 forum but maybe somebody have heard of this.

I registered here just to collect the reward. The sight is of Hungarian origin and was used together with their version of the rifle grenade launcher which is a copy of the German launcher with fine threading but differs from it by having a slot to accommodate the small bayonet lug of the 35M and 43M Hungarian bolt-action rifles. I've already passed this information on to Michael in case he publishes a revised edition of his book.
