my 1917 remington was converted to a sporter in 1960's by my father in law and uncle . all metal is ok flaming bombs in place tc. i am thinking of sending it back to miltech to restore with an after market stock and reparkerized and all for 850. i see no evidence the gun was ever parkerized? but they say they will restore to original park finish? gun is in great shape Absolutely no hint of rust so a agreat candidate to restore to original mil specs, but should it be park or blued?shoots great, kicks like a mule, bore is immaculate. appears to have been a blued finnish?

I think you can do A LOT better than that. I know a guy here in Denver, CO that does fantastic repark/resto on these and Springfields and Garands and carbines. Once you have the metal done, start looking for an original stock. That might cost a couple of hundred for a good one, and might take a few weeks or even months for the right one to come along, but I'll bet you'll be way ahead of $850.00!!

P1917 Restoration
Show us some pictures! If interested send me a PM, I just recently restored a 1917 Eddystone. I paid 125$ for the rifle, only thing missing was butchered wood and of course missing bands, I was able to put the whole thing together for about another 140$....
You can send it off to Miltech, but you'll be out a lot of money and you'll end up with the equivalent of a "Mitchell's Mausers" K98. I would rather have an honest rifle with nice wear to the parkerization and/or bluing than a miltech.
An honest restoration can be done fairly cheap....
Chris....
