    Rockin-Ola

Hi Ronnie thought I might hear from you on this one. Really appreciate the info. It's the nicest carbine I own and am happy to know some of the details. I was born in 1942 and there is a chance this one might have been made about the same time--maybe a year later?? Thanks again Tom

      Hey Tom!!
You probably already knew this. The stock is a post-war potbelly, cut for the M2. That's the blank slot to the left of the bolt where the "rock and roll" switch would be. KI, on the bbl band, is, of course, Inland, as well.
That's a nicely redone rifle. You have one of the more desirable mfgrs, even tho it is an arsenal rebuild. A keeper for sure.

I might also add that I recently purchased one of the CMP auction Rock-Ola's. It's an early spring tube. Not nearly as nice as yours, but does have what appears to be the original stock. I have removed all the years of accumulated crud on the wood, and re-oiled it with pure linseed oil. Looks a lot better now. It's amazing what hides under all the oil and dirt on that old wood.

Thanks again Ronnie for the added info. Damn these carbine and garand viruses that seem to have no vaccine to treat them--especially when the wife is around and the pocketbook is limited. Have a good one Tomt

Aaahh Yes, Tom, the infection of the virus is terminal for me!! By the greatest of Good Fortune, my Sweet Wife permits me my excesses, and they are many. I have convinced her that when I buy some of the items we discuss here, that I am mearly moving $$ from one savings account to another. God knows it's true, but she is one of the few who are convinced. I am truely Blessed.

Ronnie You definitely have a "keeper" for a good wife. Actually mine is getting to be more understanding considering the way this stuff has been appreciating and the way the markets have been heading in a southerly direction. I'll post some photos of a HRA Garand that I just acquired. Haven't torn it down yet but was assured it is all matching and original--1954 mfg. and 98%. Still looking for that WWII issue--all matching. Have a feeling that may be a lost cause. Tom
