After wonting a Luger for over 40 years I got one. When I had the money something new always caught my eye. I kept putting it off. Now the prices are very high if you buy from a dealer. I was talking with a friend and mentioned that this was the year I was going to buy one. I figured I would just get a missmatched shooter. He said he would sell me his. I told him I could not afford one as nice as his,but he insisted. It is a bfy 41, all matching,with 2 matching mags.,with the holster. Condition is 90% or better. It has been in his family since the mid 1970's.There is no way I could have bought this from a dealer for $900.00. And I took him out for dinner at The Beirstube rest. and now it has a new home in my safe.

congradulations on a very very nice aquisition. part of the fun of collecting is sharing your finds and stories with others. you did good! also a very good job of photography and display. its getting harder and harder to find anyone who can and will sell thier stuff at any price! i have been waiting now two weeks on a guy that said he would sell a rifle and the price was accceptable but he had to confer with his dad . still no reply or even the courtesy of a phone call to advise the status. if i didn't want it so bad i'd tell him i was no longer a buyer at any price. what ever happened to the days of "i want x dollars" , ok i'll pay x dollars, ok its yours? its like an act of god to get a seller to commit to sell it! Anyway darn good job and a class act taking them out to dinner .Comment

These days it seems if a dealer has it, it is the greatest thing around. If you have it, it is just junk. I no longer try to sell anything at gun shows. This deal just fell in to my hands. I never thought he would sell. He was doing me a good turn, and helping me get what he knew I had always wanted and to him it was more than twice what he paid for it. Right place,right time. Still, I do not think he would have sold to anyone but me.Comment

That rig would cost you 4k from most any established full time dealer. Ive seen holsters like that sell (not just asking price) for over 7 hundred dollars.Comment

I never thought about the value of the holster. It has the proper German Army markings on it. I guess I need to buy my friend a few more dinners. I would never take advantage of him, but I know he would not take more money if I offered. I almost wish it was not worth so much. That is a lot more than I thought.Comment

I think if you start taking him out for a steak dinner every sunday afternoon you should have it paid off in about two years. No the take down tool was not with the holster. I need to pick one up. I have learned that there are "fake" tools on the market. Ones that have Army markings on them. What some people will not do to make a buck. I am not going to shoot it,but I sure enjoy owning it, and taking pictures of it.Comment
