Where to buy an antique firearm in Canada...

I have been looking all over for a place to buy antigue (WWII and earlier) firearms in Canada (Both Deactivated and not.) Especially WWI and WWII German- and have so far found only one place. Where do fellow Canadians get their antique firearms???

Now, although some consider WW2 rifles "antiques" the government does not. They are just guns to them, so you will need a PAL. Do you have one yet?

Gun shows are your best bet, or some gun stores. Garands are fun, since rifles are non-restricted I wouldn't waste money on deactivated rifles.

I am a mature collector and am only looking into firearms for collecting purposes- it is an area of history in which I am interested. My dad used to hold a liscense but it expired. I guess he could apply and own the firearms when technically they would be part of my collection. THanks for the help all!

So you will be 17 in 2 months? You must be 18 to get your PAL, but you can do the course now and get ready. You will probably want to send in your application a few months early so you get your licence when you turn 18.

I too am 16 years old, will be 17 in July. I got my dad to get a gun licence, and now I just buy everything through his licence. Get your dad to phone the Canadian Firearms Center and ask them what can be done about an expired licence.

Well I have collected coins since I was 6, so I guess you could say I am experienced in that area. Just within the last 2 years I got interested in militaria- so my collection is basic but I still love it. I do not have any firearms at the moment but am looking quite seriously into it as it is quite an interesting area. Thanks for the info on getting the PAL- I will certainly look into it!

Is this a big show? Much german militaria?

If it is worth it, I might come out some time and check it out... Although I would probably have to fly out or drive a long ways.

Hi Rylan, they say it is the largest show in Canada....if anything, it is interesting to experience, lots of militaria, most deals are done before the doors open, but you never know.
