Thinking of restoring my MG42 Lafette.

I'm looking to remove the Yugo/Norwegian paint from my Lafette and seeking advice on how to perform this.

Underneath the top coat of paint there is grey and yellow and below that red oxide. Ideally I would like to remove the green paint and leave the original paint intact. Is this even possible?

I've read various methods i.e. liquid/gel chemical paint remover and razor blades etc. However, these will either remove the all paint or it will be very time consuming/won't work.

I would like any advice from those who have undertaken such a project.

I would also like to know what parts should be painted and what should remain blued.

The parts which are currently unpainted are as follows:
    Traverse scale and limiters
    Elevation knob and limiters
    Trigger and grip/oil bottle tube
    'Kill zone' adjustment barrel
    Trigger unit to cradle linkages

    This is the actual project:
