US Property marked Enfield????

Hi guys!

I need to pick your collective brains for some info regarding a US Property marked Enfield No 4 Mk 1 *.

The gun is dated 1943 and has no British acceptance stamps on it. There is what looks to be a couple of flaming bomb stamps on the strap(?) just behind the reciever. There is also a squarish S stamp prominent there between the serial number and the 1943 date. The bore has two groove rifling and the exposed metal has a olive drab or green paint on it in some places. The buttplate looks to be aluminum or another grey metal alloy but not steel as it is nonmagnetic. The right side of the buttstock has F R stamped into the wood. Just behind the triggerguard the stock is also stamped with the S in a square and a T.

Any info or where to look for the same would be greatly appreciated.

Could it be from Savage?
I know a Savage N°4 Mk IV* for sale so this would be my best guess.

That is the rifle I was referring to. I generally don't go for British rifles as I like Mausers. This one appealled to me because of it's condition and US markings.

I have no idea of what value these US marked rifles have in very fine to excellent condition. The rifle does not appear to have been refinished. Any thoughts on value? I'm not looking to sell it just curious.

I can't say anything about the value since the prices of (bolt)guns in the US are MUCH lower than here in Europe. I can buy a near mint Savage for 450€ and one less mint for 380€. The only thing that keeps me from buying it is the 2-hour drive.
In general Enfields go around 450€ here...Hope this helps
