Yet another 98K byf44 new addition

Everyone is posting new 98's, so here is mine from this weekend, stock mismatched to itself with floorplate and follower, bolt m/m to itself. Perfect bore......350$
Interesting thing is the stock looks like a Gew98 rework, look at the buttplate, the stock is insanded and has no markings in the outside... Chris

Nice, late example of the highest produced model of the K98k (byf 44= 1,434,219 made).

The buttplate on your K98 is very interesting. Is that a "Crown over K" proof for King Karl of Wurttemburg? The odd thing is that he ruled from 1864-1891, so it is kind of unlikely that his intial would be on a Gew 98 buttplate, a Gew 88 maybe, but probably not a Gew 98.

It doesn't look to me like it is a reworked stock (it looks like it is made of laminate), but the buttplate is obviously old, reused Imperial surplus.
