Great video of junk weapons. Personally I prefer American and European made weapons. Much more reliable. Much better quality control. Yea their weapons work, but for how long and how well ?

Too bad the buffoon who did the video had no concept or knowledge of weapons. Yeah, they may make 1000 guns a day, but from the look of them, I doubt any will shoot straight. From what I have heard of the region, it is interesting how such people put a huge emphasis on owning weapons and don't emphasize proper shooting discipline or accuracy.

I travelled there in 1980 and it is a very dangerous town to be in for a variety of reasons. That being said the weapons may look poorly made but in point of fact they are not. Each family has their specialty, some are extremely well made some are poorly made. There is even a family that makes DSHK's! I had the opportunity to shoot quite a few of them and they all worked, even those that looked bad.

As far as the lack of shooting safety, that's the way they are and the way they have allways been. It is not uncommon to see fathers toss their young children up onto the roof to keep them out of the way. Needless to say depressed skull fractures are common and the child mortality rate is very high, they view it as the first of many tests to see if the offspring is worthy of growing up. Very brutal and very selfish.

Unfortunally some mistakes there, he spoke about Mauser pistols, and he hold a Norinco Tokarev pistol, in the shop he wears a nice Ari Luger and spoken about Nazi gun, he dont understand our job, haha.

darra, a very interesting place, i was there in the early '90's. they also sell all kinds of interesting weapons from all countries, whatever they can get their hands on, mostly ecc but also much nazi german and colonial british.

as far as local manufacture goes heat treating recievers in a 55 gallon drum burning shipping crates is a bit of a stretch for me!
crude bolt action rifles and ak clones are one thing, but i did not see anything really interesting from a design or quality point of view being made there.

i did see a nearby 'factory' that made copies of maytag dishwashers by hand, called matyag or something like that. a series of holes in the ground with people pounding, welding etc. (no eye protection) at the end a surprisingly reasonable looking product!

GUNS Magazine had a great artical on this place back in the early 60s

Folks in our modern society have little concept how things are out on the fringe.

I lived with the Montagnards awhile and it was fascinating to see how they regarded some of our stuff.
Equally fascinating to see their stuff.
