My First K98k...Finally

Congratulations on your rifle, I do know how you feel as I held my RC Karabiner 98K 7.92x57. for the first time yesterday.
It is a shooter with a great bore and very nice action. Rounds for it will be almost $2 Australian each but hey i'm not going to be putting 1000's of rounds through it.

Ouch, I would hate to spend that much on ammo! Here in the US, we can get 8mm ammo for as low as around $.13 a round.

One I start shooting my K98, I will probably go on the cheap side and use some sort of military surplus ammo (probably Yugo or Romanian, which I will carefully inspect first).

Right now though, I am at the point where it is nice just to look at it!

Unfortunately, yugo surplus is almost dryed up and now turkish surplus is the only one available.

BTW, I am getting the chinese sks now as the yugos at dunhams sports are 260 a piece and I can get one I TRULY want(chinese SKS) for half of that. Plus the chinese one is cooler and looks more like an SKS than the Yugo.
