M-1 Garand Muzzel Plug? What is this thing????

Hey guys: I just have a quick question... m1 Garand, take a look at my photo... There is some kind of plug in the end...small hole and I can't figure out what it is or how to get it out! I can see in and it looks like nice rifling is there.

    Thanks,

It's a blank firing attachment made as part of the gas cylinder lock. Remove the gas cylinder lock screw, unscrew lock/BFA, replace with normal lock. Ready to shoot again with real ammo.

It looks to be blank adapter. Opps posted at the same time.

          Hi Skip,
You'll have to buy a Gas Cylinder Lock. http://www.e-gunparts.com/product.as...ductSKU=408390 Here's some quick pics of removing the lock.

          Best Regards,

                  .

Well, I had to take it apart to at least see how this all worked, I did. It was REAL dirty. Been firing blanks for a while it looks like.

Now, I can't get it back togather right! Imagine that.... Bolt is stuck way back w/ no give and forstock is loose, something ain't right! Any advise?

                  Thanks,

                    Skip,
I would try reassembling your rifle and follow the instructions in this link. http://surplusrifle.com/garand/rifle...mbly/index.asp It's a very useful site.

                    I hope this helps.
