    P38 ammo problem solved

This is a FYI! I had problems with 115 grain ammo in my P38. The spent shell at times would not cycle out and would jam. On the advice of a gunsmith I fired 147 grain. Bingo! 100 rounds fired without a problem.

I had the exact same problem and 147 grain works great. I am also going to try a 124 grain to see what results I get.

I think 147 might be too much.

I have a book on the P-38 by WHB Smith, copyright 1946.

On ammunition, he says, "As loaded by Remington the bullets weighed about 124 grains."

Referring to the load by the Germans during the war, he says, "Bullet weight with the standard lead core is about 125 grains."

I shot my P-38 for the first time a couple of weeks ago, using the same load you did (the gun shop owner said I could use the same ammo as I do in my Glock 19). However, I had the same problem you did - I thought maybe the recoil springs were worn out. I'll go ahead and try the 125.
