Springfield 1903 Millcut for the Pedersen Device on GunBroker.com

This one might be worth looking at, considering it is a rarer variant of the Springfield 1903 rifle, with only 102,000 being made from 1918 to 1920.

At first glance, it looks like just a regular, run-of-the-mill Springfield, that is, until you reach the 9th picture from the top. In that picture, the telltale ejection slit in the reciever for the Pedersen Device can be seen. It is only up to $205 with no reserve and 6 days and 12 hours left on the auction.

I don't think I have to tell you it is worth considerably more than $205, even though it is not in the best condition. Market value on these is between $1500 (fair condition) and $2500 (minty) these days, probably more.

I'd buy it myself, but being the good person I am, I thought I'd let my friends on the Forum have first dibs on it.

Sorry, but since when did the Mark one get so rare? Where have I been?
I was told that no one wanted them because of the ejection port on the side. Since no one can ever get a pederson device, why would any one want one?
I have had at least three in the last ten years and they are worth more than
$205.00, but I dont think any where near the fifteen hundred. I would rather not have had them at all with that hole. Just my opinion!! Maybe I have been lost someplace. geopop

Well, I would think that their scarcity would be one reason for them to be on the rare side, considering only 102,000 of them were made. There is more than one Mark I on GunBroker (I was only searching for Springfields, I didn't know a millcut Springfield was also called an Mark I ), but this one caught my eye because it was considerably cheaper than the rest of them.

Ned Schwing's book; Standard Catalog of Military Firearms, lists these as being worth between $600 (poor, wallhanger) and $2500 (mint).
