December 1938! The year and month I was born!

My '03A1 is a combination Rock Island receiver made in 1919, shipped to Springfield and finished out there in 1928. Issued to the Forth Marines, San Diego-the China Marines-in 1929. Have no idea when the piece was retired from active service and sure wish there was a way of knowing! Mine came out of the CMP in 1954, and when passed to me was still in the original shipping carton and FULL of cosmoline!

VERY nice. I have a Springfield Arsenal (1926). Still shoots great.

                Regards,
