Hey Guys,
Im new on here so i'll say G'day first of all. I dont see how there will be any trouble with an ammo belt, as there is no actual ammuntion in it. I have just recently imported a complete k98k stock here to oz for my mauser, and that was perfectly legal. But i would say the safest thing to do is actually contact customs themselves (aussie customs website is helpful.), as that is what i did when i was buying the stock.

You have to look at it from this point of view as Australian Customs will.
A K98 stock is a replacement non component part for a legal Category B rifle. It does not require a B709 Import Permit.
A fifty round belt, albeit empty, is an accessory for a machine gun.
Also bear in mind that all parcels coming in from overseas are subject to X-ray inspection and when it comes to gun parts and accessories Australian Customs do actually tend to know what is what.
They do not take kindly to people trying to pull the wool over their eyes and have no hesitation in obtaining search warrants purely on the basis of what you are importing if you do not have the correct B709 Import Permits.
I suggest you contact your State Police Firearms Licensing Officer and get his advice in writing before you attempt to import anything firearm related.Comment

As for an ammunition belt being fine...well a friend bought some webbing from the US, the seller decided to pop some '45 magazines into a magazine pouch as a gift. This turned quite sour for my friend who had his house raided because of this one 'simple' and 'harmless' import which he was unaware of.
When it comes to weapons downunder you have to be very aware and not just think that it might be ok. The best thing to do is check.

Hi Chris, the advice from "LT69" and Mark is correct. When dealing with Firearms or parts thereof you need to get solid, correct advice, straight from the authorities direct and in writing.
