Hello,
I am currently in possesion of a Licensed deactivated BSW 1937 dated MG34 with the "tight" vent holes on the barrel jacket (4 hole type forward of the Bipod) and as is usually the case there are numerous WaAmt stamps covering all the weapon parts including the early steel tipped Bakelite Butt.
The weapon is fully strippable although the barrel cannot by removed (UK Deact law).
I have read Folke Myrvang's book on the 34 & 42 and clearly this early weapon (or weapon part) is reasonably rare as 34 experts will know these early barrel jackets became obsolete in the very early stages of Mg34 production. Fewer holes were built into later barrel jackets to increase the strength of the shroud.
I was wondering how many of these early 34's are out there.
Cheers,
Mark.
