They have over the years offered mint and rebuilt Jugo 98K, as well as Russian captures. My only problem with them really is their out in left field prices. You can find the same items they sell elswhere for much cheaper. Just search.

From what I have seen on GunBroker and other sites, Mitchell's Mausers sells nice looking "restored" Mausers, but they are way too expensive for what you get. Also, many people don't like that fact that they are restored (sanded, refinished, reblued) and not in 100% original condition.

Their Mausers have that un-natural polished bolt, that ruins any attempt at an original Mauser. Only the WW one Mausers wore polished bolts I believe.
They are in my opinion over priced for what they are, slings are of course repro's. If you could pick one of those up that were new factory originals in that shape, you could retire!!---allmost!!

Geopop71 is right! All WW2 Kar98k had black bolt. Only Gew98 from WW1 had nice looking white bolts. There are more strange things with this Mitchell K98. Laminated stock with such a butt plate was used until 1942 then they changed to form a boot around the butt.
Combine this with the barrel fittings should not have the combination of the front band and that steel cylinder-band around the barrel. I think that the cylinder-band should look like a H instead.

I have also heard rumors that Mitchell's has tried to fake rare proofs and codes on K98s, especially the SS proofs. I don't know if there is any truth behind it, though.

Keep in mind that a large quantity of their 98Ks are not German. They are postwar Jugoslavian.

why would they do that to preserved firearms from 1945.

so they were perfect for 65 years and then they factory overhaul them so now they are worthless to collectors?

If you check out Mitchell's adds in various gun magazines, they offer SS marked 98k for extra money. It is amazing that they have such a supply of these rare rifles. Fortunatly all of the gun they are offering are imports.

The refurbish these rifles so they look better, almost like new and therefor can charge such prices. Talked to a guy who was buying one is a gun shop. He said that he was attracted to it because it was Nazi marked "looked" so good.

They are not and never will be collectables.

Yes, I am familiar with the ad. Like I said in my previous post, I heard others saying that Mitchell's Mausers were known to fake rare markings, but I can not prove it myself. But when you look at it, doesn't it raise some suspicion that they have such a "supply of these rare rifles"? It seems highly unlikely that they have even small amounts of rare codes, especially SS codes, because they are so scarce. This leads me to believe that some unscrupulous activities could be going on at Mitchell's Mausers. However, I could be wrong.
