You might also enjoy this rarity. Same gun, different parts. and yes, it's live and 100% functional.

    Hello,

Do you find any problems using the "MG15" 75 round saddledrum on the 34. I know Folke Myrvang says they are incompatble with this weapon and that a dedicated MG34 75 round saddledrum was used.

I still find it hard to believe the Wehrmacht didn't use "MG15" saddledrums on 34's.

Am I correct in assuming you have fired the weapon in this mode? If you have and do for that matter I may be coming over to your's for my Summer Holidays!

    Cheers,

    Mark.

      Mark,

Yes, I do fire the MG34 with the doppletrommel cover and MG15 drums. It works fine on mine. I've recently stopped firing my MG34 as it needs to be serviced. It needs the barrel return spring replaced, the ejector plate replaced and the cams replaced. I've got all of the replacement parts (original and new) in my hands, I just need to send it off for the work. So until then it will just be admired for it's looks!

        Cincylance,

Thank you, I suspected that may be the case. I'd love to see the weapon fired in that mode, you'll have to show us all on Youtube when you get her up and running again!

I am now in possesion of a 1937 BSW with the "tight" 4 hole early barrel jacket, but alas she is Deactivated. Looks impressive with the Trommelhalter 34 & saddledrum fitted, very "Old School!".

        Cheers,

        Mark.

          Servus Kameraden,

Does anyone have an idea of how much a "Gurtsak" (ammo belt bag) goes for these days? And are they hard to find?

          Vielen Dank,
          PK

Thanks guys, I jumped on this thread because of the photos above. I'm looking for info about the canvas ammo bag...not the MG. I'm sure the bags are hard to find.

I've had a few of the bags over the years. The last one I sold went for $250, but that was quite a few years ago. Not sure what they'd be worth now. Not really of much use unless you have something to mount it to.

Has anyone ever seen an original mount like those pictured earlier in this thread? The type looks cool, but I think would not be the most stable mount to shoot from.
