    Swedish made rifle

    Hello everyone,
I have recently acquired this rifle from a friend. Neither one of us know much about it. Have any of you seen one like this before? What is it worth and what is the history of such a rifle. Would this have been used during World War Two?
    All numbers are matching.
    Thanks for any info.

    Swedish M94 Carbine

Very nice Swedish Model 94 Carbine.. These were modified some time in 1917 by adding a bayonet lug...Cal 6.5X55mm... This is a rather late one mfg. in 1930... They were never used in a war...BILL

Very common rifle in Scandinavia, a lot of them at the open marked, if you gonna shoot it, use a reduced load. Normal ammo produced today are too hot.

      Best regards, Tom

        Mudd!!
I'm really excited about the rifle you posted!! I just love these little carbines!! Have a couple myself!!
Yours appears to have been assigned to the 15th Regiment of Infantry, Rifle # 1255. Thus your disc is marked.
Both mine are marked to the Coastal Artillery.

Thanks for bringing this rare rifle to our attention!!

          Thank you!

I really appreciate the information. I have not shot this rifle and really don't plan to.
Where could I find a nice original bayonet to go with it??

Now you are getting into an esoteric area.... According to my references, Coastal troops got a 13.6 inch blade, while the Navy guys got a 15 incher. If you don't object to me posting on your thread, I'll put some photos up of the bayonet I've got... A 13 incher, which fortunately for me, is correct for one of my rifles.
BTW, the 13" blade is as long as the rifle barrel!! And, I might add, the blades are pretty uncommon too. Get a good grip on your pocketbook!
I got my bayonet from "texaspackrat". He's a regular seller on ebay. You can plug his name in there, and contact him directly. I'd give you his email address, but I've misplaced it. He's almost local to me, and I have been in his store many times. A good and honest guy to deal with. He has MANY bayonets!!

Thank you very much for all the info. Please feel free to post the pics of the bayonet that you have. Where did you get your references?
Again, thank you for all the info

                Muddy--
The info on the data discs, bayonets and MUCH other good stuff is found in:

                "The Swedish Mauser Rifles"

by Steve Kehaya and Joe Poyer

Softback, sells for around $20. and well worth the effort. There are several others.

                  Barrel extension

                  Matt,
Oh and by the way, yours shows to have the bbl extension necessary for the rifle to comply to length restrictions in effect at the time. You will find the extension makes up the part that sticks out past the front sight cap. It's an early import. One of mine has the same feature... I at first thought it was counter bored, till I read more.

See this page for the different bayonets for the 1894 carbine and m/96 Swedish Mausers.

And a good photo study of the 1894 carbine:

The Swedish Mounted Royal Guard still use the 1894:

                          Hey guys,
Thanks for all the information I really appreciate it! I guess there is more to this rifle than I thought...
Just for the sake of asking, how much do you think it is worth??

                          Thanks,
                          Matt

                            Matt,
I pd $750. for my first one over 5 years ago.... I thought it overpriced at the time, but it was the only one I had ever found for sale. This last one was over a grand.... I have the same sentiments about it, but--- give it a couple of years, and I'll have done better than the stock market..
My old collecting mentor has always said--- you don't have to apologize for quality!! I promise you, you won't have any trouble selling it, and if you ever do want to sell it, let me know!!

I will keep you in mind if I ever plan on selling it.
