    Attention UK deact owners.

    Hello all,

i think this has slipped under the radar of many.

The writing has been on the wall for a number of years, but this time increased efforts seem to be under way.

Originally reported on Sunday, and carried by other sources today:

    http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/pol...cle3315195.ece

Ms Smith told the Telegraph: "I will find a way effectively to ban those guns and get them out of circulation."

The Home Office is to consult on the best way of outlawing deactivated guns. This could involve reclassifying them as "replicas", which are already proscribed, or simply introducing a new ban applying specifically to them.

To our American friends, yes they are serious...

    Patrick.

          B!tch....

Fortunately, like Patrick said, the writing has been on the wall for a few years now; I sold my collection a year ago which releases a burden on me finacially.

My advice to those who have De-Acs is to sell them if you have too much invested in them before the prices slide downards until they are worthless. However, if you have a deep passion for de-acs then I would suggest to invest some time and money into a Firearms liscence and join a local gun club. That way you'll be able to buy them up cheap as chips as you'll be the only ones able to buy them off those who own them. This is similar to Brococks.

what's the purpose of this future ban ?
I always thought the gangsters, drug dealers, mobsters or other criminals were not using deact guns to do their business...

                .

Where does it end? In UK they are trying to ban (all) dewats to compensate for pre 95 dewats. In Canada there are MPs trying to ban medal sales by collectors which they think is immoral when most of the medals (and other things) in the war museum are never displayed to the public (read appreciated), cannot be demanded to be viewed etc the list goes on.

That ban will probably come into force but like all these politically correct MP and lobby groups who are anti whatever they can be anti they focus on what they want. Which, might not even statistically make sense. So all post 1995 dewats must go to as a blanket policey? DOES NOT make sense. usually because they are over killing.

And, after they ban everything the crime rate will not go down. Watch and see, because people who need somthing (anything) will always get it another way, or make it.

What people need to do is organize themselves and register what they have which is post 1995 dewat and to note the value per owner, destruction of re enactment groups who need these items to preserve history etc. Petition that the government should be paying compensation for a ban which effects somthing not even in the equation (and the financial loss- which for some is BIG). They will only understand numbers, paperwork and $$$ figures, and most of all loss in votes demographically.

                Best,

                Pete

My sympathies for UK collectors. I dont see what kind of problem deactivated guns can cause. It is just sad how the UK government treats their citizens(while giving all the rights too the criminals and illegal immigrants), now in their PC mission, they are targeting pieces of history that have been made so they cant fire. And to think the anti-gunners here in America are nuts.

Question: Are these deactivated firearms registed with police?

I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your liberties in the UK. You have my sincere sympathies.
Of course, it goes without saying that this will have no effect on crime. Idiots.

Unfortunately, the UK is largely anti-gun, there are no political parties(save for the libertarians) that are pro-gun. I used to live in the UK and most of the people I talked to about guns were anti-gun ownership(even deacts). I did talk to a collector who had many live guns, including mausers, SMLEs, arisakas, carcanos and so on and so forth. But he was the only pro-gunner I talked to. UK gun owners have no chance of regaining any of their freedoms, unless the people learn the truth about guns.

We have fought these proposals before and won. Every few years the Left try and bring this non issue back up.

Non of these deacts are registered. No one knows how many are truly out there or who has got what.

We do have several bodies that can help fight these proposals.

                          Cheers, Ade.

The people in the UK that want to ban deactivated firearms fail to realize that it is the CRIMINALS that will illegally activate a weapon. It is the same in the US, there are misinformed people that feel a ban on all guns will solve the problem. law abiding citizens need to be able to defend themselves against the criminals that will ALWAYS be able to aquire guns, laws mean nothing to them.

I hope level heads will prevail because as another poster correctly stated, what's next, knives?
